Sample Action Item for Gaza /\ Services Boycott

In my last post with the subject Solution Mentality Vs Problem Mentality I have stated what you already know.

“God will not ask you on things beyond your control. But, if you could do a few things, but didn’t (and complained that rulers or rich Muslims aren’t doing) – be prepared to answer in the Hereafter”

Here’s an email (Jan 27) that is an excellent example for what individuals can do. This is the effect/result of “thinking in terms of Solutions”. The Brothers/Sisters in US are putting pressure on Media to open up. And when the Media shows a lot, the common guys in US will change his/her opinion of Israel. Then, they may put pressure on their Senators/Representatives to stop US support to Israel.

Please see the tone of the email. No grudging, no complaining, and most importantly has a section titled “TAKE ACTION”.

Two weeks ago we asked you to send letters to American media executives demanding an end to the Gaza media blackout and to expose Israel’s war crimes and apartheid.  Thousands joined in to pressure the media. Your letters are making a difference and big media is responding.  Several media outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN and others started to improve.

But none compares to the awesome 13-minute piece that aired on CBS 60 minutes last Sunday.  THIS MUST WATCH video segment exposes Israel’s mistreatment and Apartheid against Palestinians.  As you can imagine CBS has now come under intense pressure by anti-Arab/anti-Muslim groups for exposing Israel’s atrocities. Now it’s up to YOU push back, ACT NOW and don’t delay.

One other thing I must mention regarding boycott: Everybody talks about “Don’t buy products from Israel”. This is fine. But, how about “Services”? Software (including many related to Security), technology transfer (Agri, military, nuclear, etc), consultancy etc that bring billions to Israeli Government and companies. So, please get to know the services side. I’ve no specifics on this – but wanted to convey that chocolates, wheat, tablets, soaps aren’t the only exports from highly developed nations.

Apr 6 Update: This is what Guardian said in the article Israeli exports hit by European boycotts after attacks on Gaza “The bulk of Israeli export is in components, especially hi-tech products such as Intel chips and flashcards for mobile phones. It is thought that the consumer goods targeted by boycott campaigns represent around 3% to 5% of the Israeli export economy”

So, yes. Boycotting goods work. But, more needs to be done to stop genocide in middle-east  and protect world peace.
