A Conversation with my Non-Muslim Brothers

with 3 comments

The inspiration to write this started after the conversations i had with some of my Hindu colleagues related to the attacks in Mumbai. I explained some of the below points, and they seem convinced. Then, a Muslim colleague told me that his team members were talking about these attacks – accusing Muslims in general, and he was silent. We condemn the attacks on innocents. Islam clearly prohibits these mindless violence acts. 40 of the victims were Muslims, BUT the numbers or the religion don’t matter. Qur’an clearly states that killing an innocent is like killing the whole of humanity.

Q: Why don’t you Muslims condemn the terrorism?

A: We have been doing it. From Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband Seminary (in North) to TMMK organization (in South), Muslim leaders from US to UK to Saudi have repeatedly condemned terrorism, and issued Fatwas (rulings) against it. The problem is when Muslims condemn, few newspapers publish them, few TV channels give due consideration to them. And that’s why you are not aware of it.

Q: I know not all Muslims are terrorists. But, all terrorists are Muslims. Why is that?

A: LTTE of Sri Lanka, ETA of Spain, Abhinav Bharat of India (Malegaon bomb blast), Naxalites in Andra, Orissa and other Indian States, ULFA are NOT Muslim outfits.  The United Liberation Front of Assam and Abhinav Bharat are Hindu terrorist groups that targets Muslims. The Punjab militants, led by Bhindranwale, were Sikhs.

In Palestine, after World War II, Jewish groups (the Haganah, Irgun and Stern Gang) fought for the creation of a Jewish state, bombing hotels and installations and killing civilians.

Irish Republican Army has been a Catholic terrorist organization for almost a century. Spain and France face a terrorist challenge from ETA, the Basque terrorist organization.

Christian Mizos (Mizoram) mounted an insurrection for decades, and Christian Nagas (Nagaland) are still heading militant groups.

Q: Since Muslims are involved in many attacks, what is wrong if Police detains/arrests a large number of Muslims, immediately after the attacks?

A: Investigations must lead to conclusions, not the other way round. Police and some Politicians say, within hours of any attack, that SIMI, LeT, Indian Mujahideen or local Muslims were responsible for that attack. Unless you knew about attackers, you can’t find them out within hours. Why did not they stop it?  Either they wanted the attacks to happen OR they are telling lies.

The issue with “conclusions before investigations” is that it doesn’t solve the problem. The real criminals/perpetrators are still roaming free, and planning more attacks. Another problem is that you are victimizing innocents, and those innocents may turn against the society.

Q: I don’t understand what you just said. Give me examples.

1) Muslims were detained after Malegaon (Maharashtra) bomb blasts. While investigations now point that they were carried out by Hindutva (i.e. the few hindus who want to hurt others) outfits.

2) A large number of Muslim youths were arrested and harassed after the Makkah (Mecca) Masjid blasts in Hyderabad. They were released now, and were compensated by the Govt of Andhra Pradesh. Culprits were the same Hindutva groups

3) There were kidnappings in the Mexican border area in US. The Border Patrol agents and police suspected the Mexican groups for that, and detained some. It turned out that the culprits are the American citizens who lost jobs, and are suffering due to the economic crisis.

4) Here are FIVE more published incidents where some Hindus used fake Muslim identity to create problems in our motherland

These, and more such incidents, tell you that you can’t assume one community was responsible for a crime/problem, and then start to investigate who in that community committed that crime.

Justice Markandey Katju, Chairman, Press Council of India, wrote:

The media often divides the people: Whenever a bomb blast takes place anywhere in India (whether in Bombay or Bangalore or Delhi or anywhere) within a few hours most T.V. channels starts showing that an e-mail or SMS has been received from Indian Mujahideen or Jaish-e-Muhammad or Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islam claiming responsibility. The name will always be a Muslim name. Now an e-mail or SMS can be sent by any mischievous person who wants communal hatred. Why should they be shown on T.V. screens, and next day in print (the T.V. news at night often sets the agenda for the print media news next morning)?

The subtle message being sent by showing this is that all Muslims are terrorists or bomb throwers. In this way the entire Muslim community in India is demonized, when the truth is that 99 per cent people of all communities are good, whether they are Hindus or Muslims or Sikhs or Christians, and of whatever caste, region or language.

    • It is not Kashmiri Muslims who killed/expelled Pandits. It is terrorists. Would you care to read about the voices of kashmiri Women?

BTW, I am just an ordinary Indian worker. After paying taxes (to Congress Govt), Rent, EB & Grocery bills, i dont have much money left to travel all over india to have dialogue with all people.

I’m not sure about your numbers (2000, 750000). Irrespective of the numbers, Quran condemns killing innocents. It orders to respect the faith of others. For more info, please visit What does Islam say about Terrorism?

  2. Masha Allah, excellent facts gathered. These are the words which we feel short of whenever someone accuses us.
