Avoid cow slaughter on Eid-ul-Azha: Deoband to Muslims

leave a comment »

That was the title of an article from Times of India.

“Leading Islamic seminary Dar-ul-Uloom has suggested to Muslims in the country that they avoid slaughtering cows on Eid-ul-Azha as a mark of respect to the religious beliefs of Hindus.

The appeal has been supported by the All India Organisation of Imams of Mosques (AIOIM), which had earlier asked Muslims to put black ribbons on their shoulders as a symbol of their solidarity and grief for the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks

There are so many comments on this artcle.  A couple of them saying “sorry” for their earlier behavior, like:

Anonymous ,Delhi, says:I have said many inflammatory things in the past about the ‘Muslim organizations’ in India over the past few months but this particular statement by the Dawood-ul-Ulum is nice to hear. I hope the Muslim youth in India follow the ideology and teachings of the mainstream Islam and reject the evil ideology that has been emanating from our evil Northern neighbour ever since independence. Be proud of being Indian.

And then, there is also this comment:

shyamal,Missouri, USA,says:As a devout Hindu and a lover of beef hamburgers, I would say that every person has right to eat what he or she chooses. It is ridiculous to say that Hindus have problem with someone eating beef. Most Hindus are not that stupid or narrow minded. If someone does not want to eat beef , it is his/her choice. But it cannot be forced upon others. The Moulabhis should ask everyone to stop slaughtering human beings, not cows.
